The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has inaugurated a new Passport Satellite Office (PSO) at SM City Consolacion, in Barangay Lamac, Consolacion, Cebu. This move is part of the DFA’s broader initiative to enhance the accessibility and convenience of passport services for the public.
Located on the 2nd level of SM City Consolacion, the newly launched DFA Consular Office Cebu PSO is strategically positioned to cater to the needs of the local populace. The establishment of this satellite office underscores the DFA’s commitment to streamlining passport application processes and making these services more readily available to Filipinos.
From its launch, the PSO is set to accommodate between 150 to 200 applicants daily, with plans to increase the number of available appointment slots in the forthcoming months. This expansion is aimed at alleviating the backlog and ensuring that more individuals can secure their passports in a timely manner.
The PSO operates under the direct supervision of the DFA Consular Office (CO), ensuring that all procedures, including passport processing and encoding, are conducted efficiently. Any subsequent follow-ups or additional requests by applicants are managed by the Supervising Consular Office, providing a streamlined experience for users.
Starting from 19 February 2024, the PSO – SM Consolacion will begin offering Renewal Passport Application services. In an effort to enhance service delivery and reduce wait times, the PSO will exclusively cater to online appointments. Applicants are encouraged to book their slots via the official DFA website: https://www.passport.gov.ph/, emphasizing the department’s move towards digitalization and improved customer service.
This initiative represents a significant step forward in the DFA’s ongoing efforts to modernize and improve the delivery of passport services across the country. By bringing these services closer to the people, the DFA aims to support the growing needs of the Filipino community, ensuring that travel documents are more accessible than ever before.
