Decathlon, the global sports retail brand, has expanded its footprint in the Philippines with the opening of its first store outside Mega Manila, located in Cebu City.
This new 3,000 square meter sports retail zone, situated at SM City Cebu, marks the brand’s 10th store in the country and its 6th collaboration with SM.
Hans Iff, President of Decathlon Philippines, hailed the opening as a significant milestone for the company, citing Cebu’s vibrant mix of urban and natural settings, along with its active community, as the ideal location for the brand’s expansion beyond the capital region.
“Cebu is the perfect starting line for us outside Mega Manila,” Iff stated, expressing enthusiasm for making sports more accessible to Filipinos nationwide.
Hathaipat Theintangpiriya, the store leader for Cebu and city leader for Visayas and Mindanao, emphasized the brand’s ambition to cater not only to existing sports enthusiasts but also to inspire new audiences with their extensive product range for over 70 sports.
“We are happy to be in Cebu, a hub for outdoor, water, and multisport activities, and aim to unlock the love of sport in everyone,” Theintangpiriya said.
Theintangpiriya also revealed plans for Decathlon’s continued expansion in the Visayas region, with more stores expected to open in the coming years.
Currently, Decathlon operates various store types in the Philippines, including Experience stores, which serve as the brand’s main branches; City stores, located within partner malls; and a Connect store, offering a unique shopping experience.
With a broad selection of products covering a wide array of sports, including racket sports, outdoor activities, running, water sports, cycling, fitness, and team sports, Decathlon’s new store in Cebu City is poised to become a key player in the local sports retail landscape. – CebuLifestyleChannel.ph
