Ikebana International Cebu Chapter 145 is set to celebrate its 54th anniversary with an innovative exhibit titled “Beyond Blooms“, taking place from April 5 through April 7, 2024, at the CUBE Atrium in SM Seaside.
The exhibit, which begins at 7 p.m. on April 5, aims to explore the deeper meaning of flowers, encouraging ikebana artists to look beyond the aesthetic beauty and delve into themes of peace and harmony.
Originating in Kyoto approximately 564 years ago, Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement, has been a cultural symbol of tranquility and introspection.
Initially popular among samurai and peers, the art form has evolved over centuries, with the RIKKA style being the most dominant in its early years.
This year’s theme, “Beyond Blooms,” seeks to challenge both artists and viewers to appreciate the profound significance embedded in the floral arrangements, thereby fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for beauty that transcends the visual.
The exhibit also aims to inspire attendees to embrace calmness and clarity, reflecting on the true essence of beauty through the lens of Ikebana.
The event will not only showcase exquisite Ikebana arrangements but also offer a free demonstration and workshop on April 6 at 2 p.m., inviting the public to engage directly with the art form.
Through this immersive experience, Ikebana International Cebu Chapter 145 hopes to inspire a broader audience to embrace the practice, thereby promoting a ripple effect of positivity and understanding beyond cultural boundaries. – CebuLifestyleChannel.ph
