GCash is ramping up its efforts to educate users on online security, introducing new measures and educational materials aimed at combating fraud and protecting users in the digital financial ecosystem.
Amidst growing concerns over cyber threats, the company has leveraged its platform to launch a substantial educational campaign focused on safeguarding user transactions and personal information.
As part of its initiative, GCash has introduced innovative insurance products designed specifically to protect users from social engineering and online shopping fraud.
These include ‘Money Protect,’ an insurance option that offers coverage against fraud for transactions up to 50,000 pesos for a minimal monthly fee.
This service aims to give users peace of mind when shopping online, providing a safety net against fraudulent activities without covering user errors or providing automatic refunds.
Moreover, GCash assistant vice president for Media Affairs, Krisca Tadena, during a media briefing in Cebu, emphasized the importance of never sharing one-time passwords (OTPs) or clicking on unfamiliar links, which are primary methods used by scammers to gain unauthorized access to user accounts.
Tadena said GCash continually reminds its customers of these guidelines through various communications, aiming to equip them with the knowledge to identify and avoid potential scams.
In addition to user education, GCash strengthens its commitment to a secure digital environment by collaborating with regulatory bodies. These partnerships, Tadena said, enhance the platform’s capabilities to monitor and respond to cybersecurity threats effectively.
By integrating these security measures with comprehensive user education, GCash continues to build a safer digital space for its users, emphasizing that the responsibility for security starts with the users themselves.
