SM City Cebu has officially opened its Food Hall, marking a significant addition to the mall’s dining options and setting a new standard for culinary experiences in the region.
The Food Hall, situated on the third level of the mall, is the first of its kind outside Luzon, following the success of similar spaces in SM Aura in BGC, Mall of Asia, Megamall, and North Edsa.
During the grand opening on August 22, 2024, Steven Tan, President of SM Supermalls, led the celebration alongside Marissa Fernan, Vice President of SM Prime Holdings, Inc., and Michelle Llanos, Vice President for Operations – Visayas of SM Supermalls.
The event was highlighted by a toast to commemorate this new venture, which promises to become a vibrant hub for food enthusiasts in Cebu.
“The Food Hall concept was first introduced at SM Aura in BGC, where it was met with great success. We then decided to roll it out to our bigger malls, and now, we’re excited to bring this experience to Cebu,” said Tan.
He emphasized that the decision to introduce a Food Hall in Cebu was driven by a desire to listen to customers’ needs and provide them with diverse culinary choices.
Unlike traditional food courts, the SM City Cebu Food Hall is a curated space designed to cater to both adventurous diners and those seeking familiar, comforting flavors.
“For me, it’s all about giving customers choices,” Tan added. “We still provide your all-time favorites, but this hall is more curated, offering something new for those who want to try something different.”
The Food Hall features a wide variety of food selections, including international flavors, local delicacies, and Asian fusions.
Among the tenants are well-known brands such as Master Po, Buffalo Brads, Por’Que, Shish Kebab Hub, The French Baker, and many more. Each tenant has been carefully selected to contribute to the unique and diverse dining experience that the Food Hall aims to offer.
Designed with stunning interiors, lush greenery, and décor that pays homage to Cebu’s rich cultural heritage, the Food Hall provides a cozy and inviting atmosphere.
Expansive floor-to-ceiling windows allow natural light to flood the space, offering diners picturesque views of the city while they enjoy their meals.
Steven Tan also highlighted that the opening of the Food Hall is part of SM Supermalls’ broader strategy to enhance the shopping experience by focusing on customer needs.
“It’s not about the mall or any individual; it’s really all about the customers,” Tan remarked. “We listen to what they are looking for, and we strive to provide them with what they need.”
