Khiri Travel, a destination management company based in Bangkok, has expanded its footprint in Asia by adding the Philippines to its roster of destinations.
This move follows its acquisition of Travel Authentic Philippines (TAP), making the country the ninth Asian destination in Khiri’s portfolio, alongside Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, and Myanmar.
The Philippines operations will be anchored by a strong presence in Cebu City, where Khiri Travel’s office will play a pivotal role in the development and updating of travel products.
Stuart Tayler will lead these efforts, while Paulette Viacrucis, TAP’s Country Manager, will continue in her role under the Khiri Travel Philippines brand.
Khiri Travel is committed to delivering unique experiences for its guests, targeting a diverse range of travel sectors including educational travel, adventure tourism, luxury, and individual travelers.
“Our goal is to provide an authentic and innovative Philippine experience that incorporates community, culture, conservation, and sustainable profitability,” said Willem Niemeijer, founder and CEO of Khiri Travel.
Cebu will serve as a strategic hub for Khiri Travel’s expansion, allowing the company to efficiently leverage its intimate knowledge of the Philippines as a destination.
This will enable the creation of themed tours, such as island hopping, indigenous cultural discoveries, architectural and heritage trips, and immersive homestay experiences.
The company also emphasized its commitment to responsible tourism, with opportunities for guests to engage in projects that benefit local communities, including the Tagbanwa and Ifugao peoples.
Joey Gaston, co-founder of TAP and now a board member of Khiri Travel Philippines, highlighted the company’s dedication to promoting non-traditional destinations in the archipelago while ensuring sustainability for both the environment and local communities.
Khiri Travel Philippines is set to complete its rebranding by the end of the month, and its Cebu-based team will play a central role in the company’s operations and future growth.
The company will also feature prominently at international events, such as the World Travel Market in London this November.
