Philippine Airlines (PAL), the flag carrier of the Philippines, announced on Monday enticing promotional fares starting as low as P83 ($1.52) for domestic flights and $79 for international roundtrips, marking its 83rd anniversary.
The airline detailed that these special one-way domestic economy base fares will be applicable for flights commencing on or after September 1, with tickets available for as low as P83. Flights from April 1 to August 31 can be booked for as low as P283, with the booking window open from February 26 to March 1.
For international travelers, PAL is offering roundtrip economy base fares starting at $79 for flights beginning July 1, encompassing destinations across Asia and the ASEAN region, including Xiamen, Quanzhou Jinjiang, Guangzhou, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan Taoyuan. The promotion extends to flights to Australia, Papua New Guinea, the United States, Canada, the Middle East, and Japan on specified dates.
Additionally, a $109 roundtrip economy base fare is available for select destinations, including flights to and from cities like Xiamen, Quanzhou Jinjiang, Beijing, Shanghai, and more, within specified travel dates. This fare also covers business and premium class to select destinations, with the promotional period varying by route.
PAL noted that these promotional fares might be subject to peak flight surcharges ranging from P50 to P400 for domestic routes and $10 to $30 for international routes, in addition to other surcharges and government taxes.
In a strategic move to enhance its fleet, PAL revealed plans to temporarily lease two wide-body aircraft later this year, presumably from Boeing, to accommodate the return of one of its planes.
The airline reported a significant upturn in its financial performance, with a P5.4 billion ($98.6 million) net income in the third quarter of 2023, a substantial increase from P3.5 billion ($64 million) in the corresponding period the previous year. This growth was attributed to the surge in passenger travel and the expansion of its global flight network.
PAL transported 4 million passengers during the quarter, marking a 54% increase from the 2.6 million passengers in the same quarter of 2022. Its nine-month net income soared to P19.2 billion ($351 million) as passenger numbers reached 11 million, up from 6.4 million in the prior year. – CebuLifestyleChannel.ph
