Philippine Airlines (PAL) will cease its commercial flights between Baguio and Cebu starting July 1, 2024, due to insufficient passenger traffic, the flag carrier announced.
The termination of this route, which began operations in December 2022, will require travelers from both regions to resort to lengthy journeys by sea and land.
Passengers from Cebu seeking the cooler climate or business opportunities in Baguio, as well as those in Luzon traveling to Cebu, will now face more extended travel times.
Currently, the direct flight from Cebu to Baguio lasts approximately one hour and 45 minutes.
In contrast, traveling from Cebu to Manila by land via the Maharlika Highway takes about 21 hours, and from Manila to Baguio, the trip spans four to five hours.
PAL has committed to assisting passengers affected by the cancellation, ensuring refunds and support as needed.
